Mountains and Manes

Soul Streams flowing into Wilderness

Some journeys begin as simple acts of curiosity.

Over the years, I have found myself drawn again and again to places where people, animals, and land still exist in intimate relationship with one another — where life unfolds to the rhythm of hoofbeats and wind, and the horizon feels wide enough to remind us who we are beneath the noise of modern life. Places where horses are not only companions, but teachers, stories are shared around a fire, and generosity, humility, and presence are not ideals, but ways of being.

What began as a series of journeys slowly revealed itself as something deeper.

Mountains, Manes & Mateadas is an unfolding exploration of horse cultures and wild landscapes across the world.

From the vast estancias of Argentina, where Criollo horses have long travelled beside gauchos across open plains, Iceland’s untamed volcanic landscapes, the Swiss alpine pastures, and the Rhodope mountains where Karakachan horses still move through the land like memory, to the horse traditions woven through the Spanish countryside — Nanook and I will travel slowly, alongside horses, shared yerba mate circles, and the stories of those who live close to the earth.

It is, above all, a journey devoted to bringing us into deeper kinship with lifeways we never imagined existed.

If this speaks to something in you, I would love to hear from you.

Perhaps our paths will cross somewhere between mountains and manes.
